How we will work together


Our work together will be a joint venture and tailored to your individual needs. We will usually meet weekly for 50 minutes, for short term counselling (about 10-20 sessions) or for longer term counselling depending on your requirements. We can discuss this in the first session. Either way, we will have regular reviews to give you a chance to consider how things are going and make sure you are getting what you want from the sessions.


I work in an integrative way which means that I will use different models of counselling to best suit the work we are doing at the time. This may include looking at past issues, moods and emotions or environmental factors.


I am open to looking at various creative ways of exploring the things that are going on for you. Some people like to talk and some people find that difficult or may get stuck at points. It can be very helpful to use drawing, writing or other things such as visualisation or role play. This will all be entirely within your comfort zone.


Counselling is not about me telling you what to do but about us working collaboratively together at a pace that suits you. The therapeutic relationship is a key part of the process, which is why it is important for you to choose a counsellor you feel comfortable with. You do not have to tell me everything or share things you are not ready to talk about, and we will only work in a way that feels safe to you.
